PROGRAMS
CPT services are supplemented through a federally funded VOCA grant. The program provides several Nurse Practitioners who perform emergency medical exams on sexually abused children. Forensic interviews of sexually abused children are provided by VOCA funded Forensic Interviewer position. VOC also funds a social worker position that provides crisis intervention to victims of sexual abuse, who do not qualify for state services.

The thing unique about the Tallahassee CPT is it's system is designed to delineate between the criminal and dependency aspects of the cases. The criminal aspects of all sexual abuse cases are now being handled through VOCA, rather than CPT. The forensic reports are sent directly to Law Enforcement and State Attorneys office, while the CPT Case Coordinator's report (a Specialized Assessment) is sent to Children and Families. This report is based on what the CPT Case Coordinator hears and observes in the Forensic Interview, which is done by a Forensic Interviewer. [ Top ]
